As school comes to a close, and your kids have the transition and excitement of summer ahead, their immune systems can become challenged.  It is a great time of year to get inspired to nourish them and support their immune function.  Here are some tips and tools to help you support healthy immune function in your family

Rest more.    Keep snacks and meals wholesome.    Take a day off and PLAY with your child.

Be alert to what your child’s body may be telling you.  Ask for help.

Avoid refined sugar and flour.  Keep a scheduled nap time and bedtime.

Provide herbal support. Listen to your body.

Realize how important it is to be a child.

Trust your instincts.

Two Easy ways to incorporate herbs into your life:

Healthy Herbal Punch for Kids (and Grown-ups):

Blend ½ ounce of each of the following herbs:  chamomile flowers, elder flowers, lemon balm, nettles, red clover and spearmint.

Pour 2 cups boiling water over 1 Tablespoon of the herbal blend and let steep 15-20 minutes (covered).  Strain and mix with 2 cups of apple, berry or grape juice.

This makes an excellent warm or cool drink which supports the immune system, the digestive system and helps to fight colds, flu and fever.
